We had already adopted one of their half siblings 9 years ago. We hired Dena Allen. I could write a novel about this case and amount of time and quality work Dena and her staff put in for us. Our case went on for nearly one year with many twists and turns. It was very complicated. In the end we were granted Guardianship of the children until their 18th Birthdays. Thank God. Hands down this is one of the best lawyers i have ever dealt with. I am prior law enforcement and family court was terrifying to think about. Robin Schmahl has been a life saver for us. My husband's ex is very abusive and we had multiple issues with cps and mental health issues with mom. Robin was able to deal with everything including communicating with the mother for us! Its not common for a father to get full custody but Robin helped us show that his ex is mentally ill. Its been five years since the court said she had to get a mental health evaluation or lose the kids. She still has not gotten the evaluation but constantly threatens us. Robin is always there to help! We do not know what we would do without her!

I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Dena Allen as a mediator. During our session, she referenced a photo my ex supposedly had of a garage sale sign in front of my house and questioned why I hadn’t given my ex half the proceeds. I explained that no such garage sale had ever occurred. Her response was, “I saw the picture.” When I asked if she had reviewed the metadata to verify the date and location of the photo, she admitted she had not. I offered to provide written statements from my neighbors confirming that no garage sale had taken place, but she just looked at me with visible disdain. It was clear she had already made a judgment based solely on a photo presented by my ex. Despite my attorney requesting the original photo, my ex never submitted it. It was proof that the meta-data couldn’t show when it taken or when. Nevertheless, the mediator chose to take it at face value, without requiring any verification. Mediators are expected to remain impartial and fact-driven. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.
